Recipe: Cilantro Lime Avocado Sauce

This avocado sauce is a simple way to turn any Mexican fare up a few notches. It takes about 35 seconds so I’m almost 100% certain you have time to make it. I like to drizzle this sauce over huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, tacos, or scrambled eggs.

Because of the fresh avocado and cilantro, it doesn't keep in the fridge for more than a day or so, so don't be shy while lathering up your breakfast.


  • 1 medium avocado

  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

  • 1/4 cup cilantro

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup water


  1. Place all ingredients in a blender.

  2. Add water to get the desired consistency.

  3. Pour generously over tacos, breakfast burritos, rice bowls, etc.
