We love a guest recipe. In fact, one of our favorite parts of Ski Snacks is all the fun anecdotes and recipes our community shared with us.
This winter, we’re partnering with The Retreat Co, founded by Tahoe-based Charlotte Lilley, who wanted to offer a space for women to get together outdoors. In her words, she curates “outdoor adventures for women who can’t sit still.” Sign us up!
While a PB&J may be the most classic snack in the game, when Charlotte told us about her signature PB&J method, we knew it would be the perfect way to kick off our friendship. What’s more aligned with Ski Snacks than reinventing a classic?
We won't spoil anything, but we have to admit: this pretty much altered the way we’ll be making PB&Js for the rest of our lives.

The Retreat Co Signature Pocket PB&J
You think it's just the same 'ol sandwich from childhood, but think again.
The Retreat Co Signature PB&J is designed specifically for long days outside, cold fingers, and the very real reality that you might make this sandwich at 8am and not eat it until 1:47 p.m.
The secret? Two things:
1. A full peanut butter barrier to keep the bread from turning into jelly-soaked sadness
2. Granola in the middle to preserve crunch and texture long after the sandwich has been compressed, sat on, and forgotten about
-Charlotte Lilley, Founder, The Retreat Co.
Ingredients
2 slices of bread (any kind you love)
Peanut butter (or nut/seed butter of choice)
Jelly or jam
A small handful of granola
Directions
Lay out your two slices of bread.
Spread peanut butter generously on both sides, edge to edge. This is not the time to be shy—this layer is doing important structural work.
On one slice, spread jelly on top of the peanut butter, not directly on the bread. Respect the barrier.
Sprinkle granola evenly over the jelly layer. This is the crunch insurance policy.
Close the sandwich with the second slice, peanut butter side down.
Gently press. Wrap it up. Put it in your pocket, backpack or glove compartment.
Forget about it for a few hours.
Discover it in said pocket, backpack or glove compartment and thank your past self for such a delicious on-the-go snack!

Pro Tips
The more compressed it gets, the better it tastes.
Crunchy peanut butter + granola = next-level texture.
This sandwich pairs best with cold air, tired legs, and a sense of accomplishment.
